That’s where it all started... Running around in diapers... Stealing the dogs toys when you were not allowed to... As a child growing up, it was easy to fall in love with animals; they were the daily dose of life everyday. So understanding them came quick as well, it had to! Otherwise you could have a toy disappear or even a finger!! Learning animal behaviors and everyday understanding has been a lifelong learning experience, and like many things, you always learn something new everyday.
Starting in Florida at a pre-teen age I decided that an occasional Pet Sitting job was the right path to start at. That was an eye opener to many different breeds and personalities. After a couple years of doing this I received a job working in a veterinarian’s office where my skills had enhanced. Learning how to pamper and treat the sick animals was a skill that I was sure to find much needed in later years!
My training at different veterinarian offices became advanced when I discovered a new area in the pet industry that I was interested to pursue, Pet Grooming! Something I thought was very easy and that anybody could do turned out to become quite the challenge. I went through a Grooming Course and trained under an advanced instructor who taught me that perfection was key and patience was a MUST! Once I finally became a Professional Certified Groomer after much hard work, I started my career in Pet Grooming while still maintaining a position in the veterinarian field helping the little furry guys out. I was introduced to the art of Show Grooming and became quite knowledgeable with many breed standard show style hair clips. With more knowledge in any field, comes more obligations to your position, So I became an instructor for a few enthusiasts searching to become pet stylists.
After a few years grooming in the United States, life changed and brought me to Calgary, Alberta. I continued my career here in Canada and familiarized myself with the changes and differences there are here. I continued to teach the art of grooming to different students. I eventually branched out and accomplished showing dogs as well as preparing them for the show ring, but as you would know it... Life changes again and I decided to start my own business, Comfy Couch Pet Services. What Comfy Couch Pet Services allows me to do every day is continue my life long passion for animals, and I provide these services out of my home. For as many accomplishments as I have achieved in my life so far, I am still waiting to see the ones that will soon follow!
