Learn To Groom

Do you like being around animals? Have you ever considered a career in the animal industry? Have you ever thought about becoming a “Pet Stylist” or a “Dog Groomer” as your new career?
If you have, then you should read through the following questions:
  • Would you like to have a career in the pet industry?
  • Do you genuinely have a love for animals?
  • Do you think you would have the patience for this type of job?
  • Do you have any fears or insecurities with Dogs or Cats?
  • Do you think you can be firm with an animal?
  • Do you believe you have the physical strength to handle this labour intensive job on a daily basis?
If you can honestly answer these questions with a yes or no answer, you have a good start. Please understand that pet grooming is not about playing with animals all day. There is a lot of work with this type of career. Of course you do have fun with some of the animals that you groom and yes, you do talk to these animals everyday and all day. But there are a lot of issues that people do not normally consider that happen in pet grooming. One example: having dogs and cats scratching and biting you. The list goes on... No I am not trying to scare you out of choosing this career; there are many wonderful things about being a pet groomer. You learn amazing things and the experiences you gain stay with you for the rest of your life. Being able to meet some of these pets and people are memories you will treasure. You never stop learning; your daily events in this career are never the same. But, like everything in life, all wonderful things have their flaws. Pet grooming requires a lot of hard work, discipline, a strong stomach and back.

If you have a passion for animals and you understand that there are both good and bad in this field, then you may be ready to start learning the art of pet grooming.
